Bob Hope was born May 29, 1903 and died July 27, 2003 at the age of 100. It is no secret that Dave Rabbit originally created Radio First Termer in Saigon in 1971 because of the death of his roommate and good friend Jim Brookshire back in Phan Rang..... but it should also be noted, that he was inspired by Bob Hope’s relentless determination to make any personal sacrifice of time, money or being with family..... to give the troops a laugh and some entertainment to make them feel appreciated, loved, respected and missed.
Bob Hope passed away on July 27, 2003. Upon hearing this, Dave cried. A soldier’s true defender and friend was gone forever. Someone once asked Dave in an interview a few years ago if I wanted to walk in Bob Hope’s shoes in my efforts to entertain the troops. Dave replied, “I’d just be honored to carry them”. Dave Rabbit dedicated his Home Page to the memory and the legend of his hero, his mentor..... Bob Hope.
Dave Rabbit has been entertaining military men & women combat troops for over 40 Years, since Saigon, Vietnam 1971. A three tour, Purple Heart, Vietnam Veteran, Dave has always put the entertainment of his fellow soldiers as his number one priority. Whether creating Radio First Termer and broadcasting from a downtown Saigon brothel or banging the airways in the deserts of Iraq & Afghanistan, Dave has always been there to support, defend and entertain his brothers and sisters in arms.
